My wife Kris and I were honored to participate in the 74th National Prayer Breakfast at the Washington Hilton on February 4-5! I was excited to meet and spend time with Gary Wilkerson and Lorenzo Sewell. Gary is the President of World Challenge, a ministry to widows and orphans in some of the world’s most impoverished, war-torn, persecuted, and unreached regions; founded by his father David Wilkerson. Lorenzo, a former gang member and drug dealer, is the Senior Pastor at 180 Church in Detroit. We were blessed to sponsor 20 Cadets and Midshipmen from West Point, the Merchant Marine Academy and the Coast Guard Academy! We also had the privilege of extending invitations to six friends from the Philadelphia area who joined us along with two
chaplains from the Service Academies.

The program included prayers, scripture readings, and special music by the House Bipartisan Prayer Breakfast Choir and Michael W. Smith. The main speaker for the event was Tennessee Governor Bill Lee. Other speakers included Theologian Oswald “Os” Guinness, former Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger and Chicago Cubs pitcher Matt Boyd.
The Cadets and Midshipmen also participated in intense leader development conversations with MG Julie Benz and several retired senior military officers and a former Member of Parliament. The main topics of discussion were problem solving and the challenge of integrating faith and profession.
It was amazing to join over 2,700 men and women from 110 nations coming together in
the Spirit of Jesus!
