Senate Prayer
Delaware State Senate, June 13, 2017, 2 p.m.
“Most Gracious Father, we are gathered here this day to accomplish the work as a legislative body. This body embraces its high calling as servants of the people of Delaware to create a community, ensure freedom, and bestow love for neighbors. We take these words of the Golden Rule with great sincerity and deep affection. “Do to others what you want them to do to you.”
May our intents and actions of this day be with others in mind.
May our feelings and desires take to heart and the consideration of those around me.
May the actions of all people reflect the virtues of grace, kindness, and love towards each other.
May You find pleasure through the people of this great state because of the countless deeds of the Golden Rule being expressed.
We confess that we fall short and struggle to live by this virtuous principle. Although You Father give us an example and model unconditional love to others by Your very nature.
In the name of Jesus we pray this prayer. Amen.”
