2022 Altoona Prayer Breakfast

October 20, 2022 @ 7:00 am - 9:00 am
$25.00

On behalf of the Altoona Prayer Breakfast Committee, we have the pleasure of inviting you to join us for the Annual Altoona Prayer Breakfast on Thursday, October 20th, 2022.

Annually, a National Prayer Breakfast is sponsored by individual members of the House and Senate to reaffirm their faith and to renew the dedication of our nation to God and His purposes. Other Prayer Breakfasts are held around the nation on state and local levels to unite our leaders and to invigorate them in their responsibilities to our citizens.

In harmony with the leadership of other great states, and the National Presidential Breakfast, and in keeping with the above ideals, and also endeavoring to further the rich heritage in spiritual values handed down by the founding fathers of this great Republic, the Altoona Prayer Breakfast continues to serve the community and its leaders.

Theme: Locking Arms in Prayer

2022 Speaker:  Leo Wisniewski

Leo is the director for Locking Arms Men, a men’s ministry in the Pittsburgh area. Our mission is to build authentic men who love God, love one another, and love their neighbor. Leo has been in full-time Christian work for most of the last 28 years since he retired from the NFL in 1986. He worked with White Fields Foundation from 2010-2014 as Director of Men’s Ministry. Prior to this he was an assistant football coach and adjunct faculty member at Geneva College for three years, teaching in the Speech Communications area and with the Degree Completion program.

He was a co-captain playing defensive tackle in 1981 at PSU in his senior season where the Lions finished #3 nationally. He was named the Most Outstanding Defensive Player at the 1982 Fiesta Bowl and at the Hula Bowl. He was drafted #28 overall in the 1982 NFL Draft. He played four years in the NFL, three years as a starter at noseguard. He was named to the 1982 NFL All-Rookie Team. He finished with the Indianapolis Colts in 1985. Knee injuries forced an early retirement.

He has done work in Christian Higher Education (Dean of Students) and in the inner city in youth ministry, both in Chicago and Washington, D.C.  The focus of his work in men’s ministry is in teaching the word of God and discipling men through life to life relational ministry. Locking Arms is challenging men to deepen their faith commitment through strengthening marriages and families, serving the poor and living out God’s Word in authentic community.  Winning men to Christ and equipping them as kingdom men in all areas of their life is the goal. Men have embraced the opportunity to mentor at-risk boys as an important part of service.  Through monthly events and huddles we reach men with the life changing power of the gospel in brokenness and friendship.  Leo is reaching out through Del Rey Ministries (Mr. Kim Costanza) by taking short-term mission teams of men to serve the poor in the Dominican Republic while supporting a long term missionary effort of pastoral training.

Leo has received a B.A. from Penn State (1983) and a Master of Arts in Religion degree from Trinity School for Ministry, an evangelical seminary in the Anglican tradition (Biblical Studies concentration). See www.tsm.edu  Leo is a frequent speaker at men’s events, churches, and retreats both in Western Pennsylvania and across the country. Some of his devotional writing is available on our website.

He resides in Pittsburgh with Cindy, his wife of 34 years. They have two adult children, both Penn State graduates, Stefen and Sarah.
