SUMMARY:Pennsylvania Prayer Breakfast 2023
DESCRIPTION:ANNUAL PENNSYLVANIA PRAYER BREAKFAST 2023\nRepresentatives Regina Young and Zach Mako \nInvite you to attend this year’s Pennsylvania Prayer Breakfast. \nLet’s join together for our annual prayer breakfast together!  This will be a morning of several community and civic leaders around the state\, leading us in a collective time of prayer. \n2023 Pennsylvania Prayer Breakfast \nWhy a prayer breakfast? To bring people in positions of authority and influence to gather together\, break bread\, and pray around the Person of Jesus of Nazareth. There is a place for partisanship\, disagreement\, and lines in the sand. But it is equally important that we remember our common humanity and dependence on God and our shared love of Pennsylvania and the United States. The goal of the  Pennsylvania Prayer Breakfast is to build a beachhead for peace\, unity\, and good fellowship among people of influence who are seeking to do good in this state. \nAnnually\, a National Prayer Breakfast is sponsored by individual members of the House and Senate to reaffirm their faith and to renew the dedication of our nation to God and His purposes. Other Prayer Breakfasts are held around the nation on state and local levels to unite our leaders and to invigorate them in their responsibilities to our citizens. \nIn harmony with the leadership of other great states\, and the National Presidential Breakfast\, and in keeping with the above ideals\, and also endeavoring to further the rich heritage in spiritual values handed down by the founding fathers of this great Republic\, the Pennsylvania Prayer Breakfast continues to serve the Commonwealth and its leaders. \n  \nSpeaker for 2023. Honorable Joe Pitts (former Pennsylvania Congressman) \nThe Honorable Joseph R. Pitts served 20 years in the US Congress\, representing the Sixteenth Congressional District of Pennsylvania\, having previously served for 24 years in the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives. \nRep. Pitts was born in Kentucky in a family of strong Christian faith. His father was an Army chaplain during World War II\, serving in the South Pacific. After the war\, the elder Pitts returned to the Philippines with his wife and children to serve as a missionary in a war-ravaged country. It was there\, where he saw the after-affects of war\, that Joe Pitts developed a heart for human rights and commitment to a strong defense. \nHe served five and a half years in the Air Force\, with three tours in Vietnam. He completed 116 combat missions\, earned an Air Medal with five oak leaf clusters\, and was promoted to captain by the time he left the service. Today Rep. Pitts is a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5467 in Kennett Square\, Pennsylvania. \nRep. Pitts is a family-oriented and  believes strong families are the key to America’s prosperity.  Upon being elected to Congress\, he established a reputation as an effective and honest legislator. Over the years\, he became a leader in the causes of farmland and open space preservation\, fiscal restraint\, and traditional values. \nRep. Pitts is an active participant in the Congressional Prayer Caucus. He was elected to chair the Values Action Team\, a new organization dedicated to building cooperation between traditional values-oriented Members and similarly-minded citizen groups. \nWhile serving as the vice-chairman of the International Relations Subcommittee on International Terrorism\, Nonproliferation\, and Human Rights\, he became widely recognized as a principled\, respected voice on international human rights issues such as religious freedom\, trafficking in persons\, HIV/AIDS relief\, and foreign aid.  As a member of the Environment and the Economy Subcommittee\, he is currently working to create jobs\, make health care more affordable\, and ensure that food\, drugs\, and medical devices are safe. \nCurrently he works with Asbury University on the Joe Pitts Center for Public Affairs which equip a new generation of students to engage with politics faithfully\, intelligently and charitably through a range of academic resources and initiatives. \nRep. Pitts has been married to Ginny for over 50 years.  They have three grown children and four grandchildren.  During his long tenure\, Pitts faithfully represented his constituents and sought to be a light for Christ\, working tirelessly for human rights and religious freedom around the world. \n  \n2023 Pennsylvania Prayer Breakfast\nTuesday\, May 2nd 2023\n7:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. \nPenn Harris Hotel\n1150 Camp Hill Bypass | Camp Hill\, PA 17011 \nGet your ticket now.
